When Ellia’s mom Angie approached me about being her event planner for one special birthday party, it was really just confirmation of something that I had been thinking about for years. I have such a broad skill set… photography, graphic design, sewing, decorating, baking, a tinge of floral design, prop creator… and I felt that I was only using a percentage of what I can do. Someone gave a word of knowledge at church one sunday morning, of just that, not using all of your God given talents, and that same day the birth of the northwest indiana event stylist, southwest michigan event stylist, was born.
I’ll be adding selective Event Styling & Planning to my service offerings when we transition to the new website. For now, if you have questions, feel free to email me… firstname.lastname@example.org
I love this family! They really are such sweet people, and their darling Ellia was going to have one fabulous party to celebrate her first birthday, and the completion of their family. The theme was shabby chic baby, which I of course already was enthralled with. It really was a perfect fit and I loved every. single. detail.
The event was for 50, and held at Knox Community Center. Angie was able to borrow all the china, silverware, and numerous other pretties from various sweet ladies. With the help of my husband Nathan, and my mother too, I styled the room, and had everything set up and ready for the family to just walk in.
I’m still swooning over the wonderful memories from the day… like their sweet faces when they first saw the room, and the general delight of the guests. It was dreamy!

Dariane and Dakota are my second cousins. The first time I remember seeing them was years ago when they came to show our Papaw Jordan their tiny kittens. The girls are much bigger now but still so sweet. I love photographing sisters! I have always wanted a large family, and the idea of having several little girls sounds wonderful. I have 3 older brothers, so I don’t know what the experience is of having a sister, but I’m pretty sure the relationship between them is something wonderful.
Just before sunset, we headed out to the Kankakee River on 39, outside of North Judson, with a picnic basket full of flowers, some strawberries, and vintage soda’s (from Piggies & Cream at the Point). It was great seeing the girls again and having the opportunity to photograph them!
A blooming orchard in Southwest Michigan seems like the perfect place to spread a quilt out and enjoy and cup of tea or a book. Springhope Farm once again made the perfect location. While the weather was rather chilly and wind brisk, the sun was delightful and the girls were thankful for it’s rays. Blooms this year were a month early so we thought we should take advantage of their beauty even with the chilly temps. Thanks for braving the cool weather girls, you’re beautiful!

I was anxious to get this little one’s 1.5 year milestone in, as she is now walking! See her other session’s here, here, & here. I do believe that she agree’s with me on this weather thing… (as she wasn’t digging the cool day from this session – with her oh-so-serious face, but we think it’s cute anyway!)
The transition between fall and winter is always rather dreaded. It’s hard to let go of fall, but as always we must. I bid you farewell fall.
p.s. I don’t hibernate completely in the winter. I’m always up for playtime in the snow, with a family, newborn or little one’s session on location! Don’t forget me. . .
This family is one of the sweetest I know. From the first time meeting them, they’ve extended a hand of kindness and friendship to Nathan and I. I admire them as Christian parents and think their four little one’s are wonderfully sweet. Here are some of my favorites from the session.
