I love photographing engaged couples. This year has brought me many new clients. Each one has been so special and unique. Sometimes clients will remind me of people I know. Lindsey is a nurse and has that sweet caring nature about her. Evan reminds me of my brothers. My brothers are tough men, and Evan was much the same. But it was great how candid he became when he needed to be. Now that’s love! I’m always so excited to see how a couple’s story seems to unfold through their images. Upon hearing Lindsey’s plans for their wedding, I knew that I needed to incorporate some things that would fit her style. To set the picnic scene, I made burlap and lace bunting, mini apple pies, and brought along sparkling cider to fill my grandmother’s antique glasses. We started in a light dappled walnut grove, and then headed to some other softly glowing spots I’d found in San Pierre. The light fell beautifully and set a romantic tone. I’m always thrilled to capture these kinds of moments between a couple. It’s like being able to do the artwork for a great love story. And I have to thank Lindsey & Evan for being such troopers wading through all the tall grass and uncharted territory! Blessings to you two!

Northwest Indiana Photographer – Springtime Fun { Family Session }
Avant Gardens was the perfect spring location for this family session. The tall grasses from last summer were soft and golden among all the fresh green coming in. It provided a perfect backdrop for a bit of fun with the family. The children were all so sweet and I loved seeing how they interacted with one another. Having older brothers myself, I was happy to see how affectionate the boys were to their little sister.
After seeing a demand for baby announcement designs here at The Whimsy Tree, I’ve decided to create a couple custom designs for the store. I will be offering design services to finish the card with your own images. For now here’s a sneak peak of some inspirations, including some great finds from local antique stores such as, vintage baby bonnets, books, luggage and an old watch spring tin. I love finding vintage goodies that inspire me in design and also for session props.

I met the McIndoo family at Wilson Park in Mishawaka, for one last romp in the great outdoors while the weather was still nice. Since there’s two adorable little ladies in the family, we started on a hillside under a tree with a girly sort of setting. However, this setting did not last long, because the eldest was quite the explorer. We ran all over the open field, and then ventured into the woods to chase that golden evening glow that I love so much. Here are my favorites from the session!
This family portrait session took place on the Yellow River Road property. The warm light in this session was just wonderful! It reminded me a bit of Rembrandt’s colors. The Banks family is one family I loved working with. They just happen to be my family but I really do think they are kind, down to earth people. I noticed a while ago that their children are the most well behaved kids ever. I’m told that not only are they good kids, but they’re really smart. Natalie, a natural around the camera, loves to read and is a bit shy, like me! Noah has always been in high ability classes, loves sports, and playing guitar with his dad. Whether its grocery shopping or traveling, the family loves to do things together. They even agreed to have a picnic with my mini homemade apple pies. I hope they’ll love these images as much as I do! Enjoy!
P.S. Keep an eye out for another blog post on a special little project we worked on with this family.
