In 2012 I’ve decided to take on a few select weddings and engagement sessions. Here is my very first engagement session from this past week. I love natural light and the way it can evoke emotion and give a certain “feel” to an image. Before a session I normally try to pray and ask God to be my master lighter. Honestly, this time I had forgotten to ask that, but once again God showed favor and mercy on me. I’m amazed at how much he continues to bless me in this fairly new endeavor! He also blessed me with an awesome assistant for the session, my husband. Some of these images remind me of this Pride and Prejudice movie, at the end when the two main characters finally meet at dawn. Anyways, back to the reason for the session in the first place! Matt and Ashley are so natural together, as they should be of course. Love is multifaceted, but for the most part, I consider it a serious, deep sort of emotion. I believe these images portray that emotion perfectly and with all the passion and excitement one could hope for.

… and two shall become one…wedding post coming soon.

Not once had there been such eyes,
Such a nose,
Such silly, wiggly, wonderful toes.

Meet baby Malachi! Isn’t he the sweetest?! I love photographing newborns. It’s the sort of thing requires a good amount of patience because newborns are best posed within a week of being born, full, and sleeping. With much time spent waiting for the baby to sleep, there’s lots of moments to reflect on all the little details of the newborn. Not having children myself, I’m told by so many that this stage just seems to fly by. I really enjoy capturing these fleeting moments. . .

I was anxious to get this little one’s 1.5 year milestone in, as she is now walking! See her other session’s herehere, & here. I do believe that she agree’s with me on this weather thing… (as she wasn’t digging the cool day from this session – with her oh-so-serious face, but we think it’s cute anyway!)

The transition between fall and winter is always rather dreaded. It’s hard to let go of fall, but as always we must. I bid you farewell fall.

p.s. I don’t hibernate completely in the winter. I’m always up for playtime in the snow, with a family, newborn or little one’s session on location! Don’t forget me. . .

Every girl should have a pink, ruffled dress at some point in their life, right? The inspiration for this dress was a barbie doll I had when I was little. It had similar fabrics for it’s decked-out gown. The dress ended up with the perfect balance of simple, but girly features… my favorite combinations.
